GLOSSARY · C

CRO (conversion rate optimisation)

Changing a store so more visitors buy, measured with tests rather than opinions.

WHY IT MATTERS

Why it matters for a Shopify store.

More of the visitors you already pay for become customers. CRO compounds every other channel, which makes it one of the cheapest growth levers a store has.

Good CRO is a process: research where buyers drop off, form a hypothesis, test it, and keep what wins. It isn't a list of best practices applied blindly.

HOW CREATIVE LABS HANDLES IT

What we do about it on every project.

01

Research first

Analytics, heatmaps, session recordings and customer questions show where and why people leave.

02

Fix the obvious, test the rest

Broken flows and slow pages are fixed straight away; uncertain changes are A/B tested.

03

Report revenue

Results are measured in revenue per visitor, not clicks.

EXAMPLE

A typical example.

A store gets steady traffic but few add-to-carts on mobile.

Session recordings show the size guide hidden below reviews; moving it next to the size selector and testing the change against the original turns a guess into a measured decision.

COMMON MISTAKES

What usually goes wrong.

Copying competitors

What works for another store's audience may not work for yours.

Testing trivia

Button colours rarely matter. Offers, clarity and friction do.

Ignoring speed

A slow mobile page undoes most design changes. Check Core Web Vitals first.
