DELIVERABILITY
Warm up a new sending domain
A dedicated sending domain needs DMARC, DKIM and a warm-up schedule. Skipping it lands the first campaign in spam.
DATA
Events must be named consistently
Custom events from a headless storefront need a stable naming scheme or segments break silently.

Klaviyo on Shopify, in practice
Klaviyo is the default email and SMS platform for Shopify stores above a certain size, and the integration is deep: every order, product view, checkout start and customer property is available for segments and flows within minutes.
We set up the on-site tracking through the theme rather than a tag manager so it survives theme updates, build the core flows (welcome, browse and cart abandonment, post-purchase, win-back, back in stock), and connect the forms to the store's consent settings so SMS is compliant from day one. Product recommendations, predictive analytics and the customer hub all work better when catalog data is clean, which is usually the first thing we fix.
The most common mistake is paying for a contact tier full of profiles that never bought and never open. Sunset flows, list cleaning and a review of which segments actually drive revenue typically cut the bill and lift deliverability at the same time. Stores that want flat pricing often move to Spoks; we migrate flows and templates either way.
Does Klaviyo work with Shopify checkout extensibility?
Yes. On Shopify Plus we use the Plus-only hooks, including checkout extensions, wherever Klaviyo can use them. On Shopify and Plus the connection is native, and on headless storefronts it runs through the API.
Can Klaviyo send SMS as well as email?
Yes. Klaviyo covers email and SMS, billed by active profiles and SMS credits. We connect the forms to the store's consent settings so SMS is compliant from day one.
Will Klaviyo slow down my Shopify store?
