Notion
Notion integration
Notion is where many teams write. We connect it so help articles, FAQs and changelogs can be written in Notion and published on the store.

SETUP BY PLATFORM
How we set up Notion
Shopify
Notion on Shopify (API/Make): Set up the workspace, connect Notion databases to the store through Make or the API, and publish help content or changelogs to the storefront.
Shopify store builds →Shopify Plus
On Shopify Plus (API): everything in Shopify, plus the Plus-only hooks (checkout extensions, B2B, Launchpad) where Notion can use them.
Hydrogen
On a headless storefront (Hydrogen, Astro or Next.js) we connect Notion through API and own the event and data mapping ourselves.
USE CASES
What teams use it for
Help centre
FAQ and help articles authored in Notion, rendered on the storefront.
Ops wiki
SOPs for fulfilment, returns and launches linked to Shopify.
Launch board
A single board for product launches with tasks and assets.
BEFORE YOU ADD IT
What to watch out for
PUBLISHING
Notion is not a CMS
Rendering Notion blocks on a storefront needs a build step and caching.
SEO
Public Notion pages rank poorly
Publish through the storefront, not notion.site.
PERMISSIONS
Guests vs members
Members cost seats; use guests for partners.

Notion on Shopify, in practice
Notion is where many small teams already write product descriptions, plan launches and keep the FAQ. Connecting it to Shopify turns those pages from documents into content the store can publish without copy-paste.
Through Make or Zapier we sync a Notion database of products or articles to Shopify metafields, blog posts or metaobjects, so a status change in Notion publishes to the store. Launch checklists in Notion get a Shopify order count or a GA4 number written into them automatically, and the client-facing project board for our own work lives in Notion with links to staging and the Slack channel.
Notion's API is good but not fast or event-driven, so we poll on a schedule rather than expecting real-time sync, and we keep the mapping narrow — titles, body, images, a few fields — rather than trying to make Notion a PIM. If the catalog is large or has variants, Airtable or a proper PIM is the better source.
Can we publish Notion pages on our Shopify store?
Yes, through Make or the API, which sync a Notion database to Shopify metafields, blog posts or metaobjects. Publish through the storefront, not notion.site, because public Notion pages rank poorly.
Is Notion a CMS?
Not really. Rendering Notion blocks on a storefront needs a build step and caching, so we keep the mapping narrow: titles, body, images and a few fields, rather than treating it as a full CMS or PIM.
Can Notion sync with Shopify orders?
Partly. We can write a Shopify order count or a GA4 number into launch checklists automatically. Notion's API is not event-driven, so we poll on a schedule rather than expect real-time sync.
Notion or Airtable?
If the catalog is large or has variants, Airtable or a proper PIM is the better source. Notion works for help content, launch boards and ops wikis, where its writing experience is the strength.
