Spoks Review 2026: The Flat-Rate Klaviyo Alternative for Shopify Stores

Haniel Singh

Founder, Creative Labs · Published Nov 5, 2026 · 15 min read

Spoks is an email and SMS marketing platform built only for Shopify, priced at a flat $35/month with unlimited contacts. Creative Labs is a listed Spoks partner (Spoks pays its partners no commission); this review is written from the stores we have set up on it and from Spoks' own published figures.

The short verdict

If you run a Shopify store with 2,000 to 50,000 contacts and your Klaviyo bill has become a line item you resent, Spoks is the first alternative we recommend without caveats on price. It costs $35 a month at any list size. By the figures Spoks publishes, Klaviyo costs roughly $150 a month at 10,000 contacts and $400 at 25,000, before SMS.

The catch is scope. Spoks is Shopify-only, launched in August 2024, and still lists A/B testing and the Smile.io, Judge.me and Loox integrations as "coming soon." If your revenue depends on predictive analytics, a dozen third-party integrations or multi-platform sends, stay on Klaviyo for now.

What Spoks is

Spoks is an email and SMS marketing app for Shopify, made by Spoks Technologies, Inc. It launched on the Shopify App Store on August 1, 2024 and positions itself in one line on its homepage: "Like Klaviyo, but $35/mo flat."

The origin story, told on the company's our story page, explains the product's priorities. Co-founder David's wife ran a Shopify store with 30,000 customers and was paying Klaviyo close to $1,000 a month. Her complaint wasn't only the bill; sending one email meant opening a laptop and working through a tool that felt slow and dated. The team had already built Knips, an email and SMS tool for real estate, so they adapted it for Shopify and moved her store over. Co-founder Martin did the same for his wife's store. Daniel Anderson, a Swedish Shopify founder who was tired of Klaviyo's price increases, joined after sending feedback and now runs onboarding for new stores.

Three things follow from that story and show up in the product: a flat price, a native mobile app that is meant to be used for real work, and human support staffed by people who have run Shopify stores. The company is hiring its founding team in Austin, Texas, and states CCPA and GDPR compliance with a DPA available.

As of November 2026 the app holds a 4.9 rating from 62 reviews on the Shopify App Store, with 60 five-star reviews, one three-star and one one-star. Most reviewers have used it for under a year, which is what you would expect from an app two years old. The review themes are consistent: price versus Klaviyo, a simpler interface, fast human support, and requests for more integrations.

Spoks pricing: $35 a month, whatever your list size

Spoks has one paid plan. It costs $35 a month, includes unlimited contacts (the App Store listing caps it at 200,000), unlimited email sends, all flows and segmentation, the mobile app, migration help and support. Stores with fewer than 1,000 contacts stay on the free tier; above that you upgrade before sending campaigns or switching on flows. SMS is bought as top-up credits that do not expire, which is a quiet but real difference from Klaviyo's monthly SMS bundles where unused credits are lost.

Because every other serious platform prices by contact count, the gap widens as a store grows. The figures below are what Spoks and the platforms themselves publish for email plans; SMS is extra on all of them.

ContactsSpoksKlaviyo (email)Omnisend (Standard)Shopify Email
500Free~$20/mo~$16/moFree to 10K emails/mo
5,000$35/mo~$100/mo~$81/moFree to 10K emails/mo, then $1 per 1K
10,000$35/mo~$150/mo~$132/moPer email sent
25,000$35/mo~$400/mo~$245/moPer email sent
Annual cost at 10K$420~$1,800~$1,584Varies with volume

At 10,000 contacts the saving against Klaviyo is about $1,380 a year, Spoks' own headline figure. At 25,000 it is about $4,380. Omnisend narrows the gap on email but moves SMS behind its Pro plan, which starts at $59 a month for 2,500 contacts, so a store that wants both channels usually ends up paying more than the Standard price suggests.

One caution on reading this table: price tiers on Klaviyo and Omnisend change regularly and both run promotions. Check the live pricing pages before you build a business case, and treat the ratios, not the exact dollars, as the durable point.

The features that matter for a Shopify store

Spoks covers the core of what a DTC store needs from an email platform. It does not try to cover everything Klaviyo does, and the product pages say so. Here is what we lean on when we set a store up.

One-click Shopify sync. Install from the App Store, connect the store, and products, customers and order history sync automatically. Contacts import on connection, so there is no CSV step for the list itself.

Flows. Welcome, abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post-purchase upsell and win-back flows are the standard set. Triggers come from Shopify events, so a flow can key off a specific product, collection or order value. A birthday flow is listed as coming soon.

Segmentation. Segments are built from behavior and purchase history: what someone bought, how often, how recently, what they clicked. It is enough for RFM-style segments and product-affinity campaigns. It is less deep than Klaviyo's predictive segments, which we cover in the next section.

Email and SMS in one place. Both channels live in the same flow builder and the same campaign calendar. SMS credits are pay-as-you-go and never expire, so a store that sends SMS seasonally is not paying for a bundle it doesn't use in May.

A block editor that is actually new. Spoks' editor is a modern drag-and-drop block editor with control over fonts, layout and colors. Klaviyo's default editor is still built on an older HTML-template model. For a store team that edits emails weekly, this is the difference people notice first.

A real mobile app. You can build, edit, send and read reports from the phone. Spoks describes it as "no lightweight companion app," and in our experience it holds up for a founder who approves campaigns from the road.

Revenue attribution and analytics. Opens, clicks, conversions and attributed revenue sit in one view per campaign and per flow. It is simpler than Klaviyo's reporting but answers the question store owners ask most: which email made money.

On-site forms and pop-ups. Subscriber capture forms are built in, so a basic store does not need a separate pop-up app.

AI through MCP. This one is unusual. Spoks ships an MCP server, which means you can connect it to ChatGPT, Claude or another AI assistant and draft a campaign, build a flow or adjust a segment from a chat window. The App Store listing names ChatGPT and Claude as integrations. For an agency, it means campaign production can be scripted; for a founder, it means asking for "a win-back email for customers who bought candles but not in 90 days" and getting a draft in the editor.

Human support and free migration. Support is live chat staffed by former Klaviyo users and Shopify operators, and it is included in the $35. Flow migration from Klaviyo is done with you by the Spoks team at no charge.

Where Spoks falls short

A review that only lists upside is a sales page. These are the gaps, most of which Spoks publishes itself on its Spoks vs Klaviyo page.

  • •
Shopify only, by design. WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento and Salesforce Commerce Cloud are marked "won't do." If you sell on more than one platform, or plan to, Spoks is not your ESP.
  • •
No A/B testing yet. Subject-line and content split tests are listed as "soon." For a store that runs a disciplined testing program, this is the single biggest reason to wait.
  • •
Loyalty and review integrations are still coming. Smile.io, Judge.me and Loox are on the roadmap, not live. Flows that depend on review requests or points balances need a workaround today.
  • •
Fewer templates and integrations than Klaviyo. Spoks' own comparison article admits this. The catalog is growing, but a store that relies on a long tail of niche apps will find gaps.
  • •
Simpler segmentation. There are no predictive fields (expected next order date, churn risk, predicted CLV). Behavior and purchase-history segments cover most campaigns; data-science-driven ones do not exist here.
  • •
It is two years old. Launched August 2024, 62 reviews, a founding team still being hired. The product has been stable for the stores we run on it, but it does not have Klaviyo's decade of edge cases behind it.
  • •
English only. The App Store listing shows a single language.

Spoks also lists things it will never build: RCS messaging, in-app messaging, a support-ticket product and image remixing. Those are honest exclusions rather than gaps; a store that wants them is in Klaviyo's enterprise tier anyway.

What we have not found to be a problem: deliverability. Spoks makes no public deliverability claim, but several App Store reviewers report open rates matching Klaviyo after migration, and that matches what we see when a store warms up properly (see the migration section).

Read the table in one sentence: Klaviyo wins on depth and ecosystem, Omnisend is the middle option with web push, Shopify Email is free but thin, and Spoks wins on price and simplicity for a single-platform Shopify store.

Migrating from Klaviyo to Spoks

A Klaviyo-to-Spoks migration takes one to two weeks when it is done carefully, and most of that time is sender warm-up, not setup. Contacts come across automatically when you connect the store; the work is in flows, suppression lists and reputation.

  1. 1.
Export from Klaviyo. Download subscribers, segments and, critically, the suppression list as CSV. Screenshot or document every active flow: trigger, delays, branches, which template each step uses.
  2. 2.
Connect Spoks to Shopify first. Install the app and let it sync products, customers and order history before importing anything. This is what lets Spoks attribute revenue and trigger flows from Shopify events.
  3. 3.
Import lists and keep unsubscribes suppressed. Upload the Klaviyo export and the suppression list together. A migration that drops suppressions is the fastest way to a spam-complaint spike.
  4. 4.
Rebuild the core flows. Abandoned cart, welcome and post-purchase first; win-back and browse abandonment second. Spoks' team will do this with you over chat at no charge, and templates can be copied from Klaviyo.
  5. 5.
Warm up over two to three weeks. Send to your most engaged segment first (opened or clicked in 30 days), then widen. Deliverability on a new sending domain is earned, not inherited.
  6. 6.
Switch off duplicate Klaviyo flows, then keep Klaviyo on its free plan for 30 days. You keep access to historical reports while you confirm Spoks is attributing revenue correctly, then cancel.

Two things we add on client migrations: set up a dedicated sending subdomain (for example mail.yourstore.com) with SPF, DKIM and DMARC before the first send, and run both platforms' attribution side by side for the first two weeks so the revenue comparison is apples to apples.

Who should switch, and who should stay

Switch to Spoks if most of these are true:

  • •
You sell only on Shopify or Shopify Plus and have no plans to add another platform
  • •
Your list is between 2,000 and 50,000 contacts, the range where Klaviyo's price climbs fastest
  • •
Your email program is the standard DTC set: welcome, cart, post-purchase, win-back, a weekly campaign
  • •
A founder or a one-person marketing team runs email, often from a phone
  • •
You send SMS seasonally and resent paying for monthly credits you don't use
  • •
You want to draft campaigns with an AI assistant rather than hire for it

Stay on Klaviyo if any of these are true:

  • •
You run A/B tests every week and make decisions on them
  • •
Your flows depend on Smile.io, Judge.me, Loox or another integration Spoks hasn't shipped
  • •
You use predictive CLV, churn risk or expected-next-order-date segments
  • •
You sell on more than one platform and want one ESP across them
  • •
Your list is under 1,000 contacts, where both are effectively free and Klaviyo's depth costs nothing

If you are split, the cheapest way to decide is to run Spoks on the free tier alongside Klaviyo for 30 days with one flow live on each. The revenue attribution will tell you.

How Creative Labs sets up Spoks for clients

Creative Labs is an official Spoks partner and a Shopify Partner agency. We set up email marketing on Spoks for Shopify stores as part of a new build, a platform migration, or an ongoing monthly retainer.

A standard Spoks setup with us includes:

  • •
Sending domain, SPF, DKIM and DMARC configured before the first send
  • •
Klaviyo or Omnisend migration with suppression lists preserved and a two-to-three-week warm-up plan
  • •
The five core flows built, designed in your brand and tested on real orders: welcome, abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post-purchase, win-back
  • •
Segments for RFM tiers, product affinity and SMS opt-ins
  • •
Pop-up and embedded forms matched to your theme
  • •
Revenue attribution checked against Shopify reports so the numbers agree
  • •
An MCP connection so your team can draft campaigns with Claude or ChatGPT in your voice

Most stores are live on Spoks within a week. If your store also needs SEO or conversion rate optimization, email becomes one channel in a plan rather than a separate project. Book a free Shopify audit and we will tell you whether Spoks is the right move for your list, or whether you should stay where you are.
