Discount functions — built on Shopify Functions — run custom discount logic inside Shopify's own checkout, replacing the Ruby-based Shopify Scripts that are being retired.

A Plus store's line-item Script gives tiered discounts by quantity across a collection.
The logic is rebuilt as a product discount function with the tiers stored as settings, and results are checked against the old Script on the same carts before Scripts are switched off.

Are Shopify Scripts going away?
Yes. Shopify is retiring Scripts in favour of Functions and Checkout Extensibility, so Plus stores should migrate.
